Lil' Rooftop Update
Hey boos. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. The first week of 2021 was a rough one with the insurrection in the capital and the aftermath. The hope and relief of closing the chapter on 2020 being followed so immediately by such a despicable event took the wind out of my sails for a moment. The obvious disparity between how police handled peaceful BLM protesters vs. violent white supremacists, Trump’s loving response to them … the whole thing is blood boiling, but unfortunately not entirely surprising. Some things went south a bit with some personal stuff the first week of January also, which just added to the dark cloud. I saw a clip that has offered some clarity. It’s bit of Andre de Shields acceptance speech for a Tony Award and his three “cardinal rules” are:
“Surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you coming.”
“Slowly is the fastest way to get to where you want to be.”
“The top of one mountain is the bottom of the next, so keep climbing.”
These all really speak to me and I hope they speak to you too. Life is such an adventure. And just to solidify that statement, that dark week of mine lead into one of the best weeks I have had in a long time. My roommate Bianca came home from Texas and brought an adorable Toy Schnauzer puppy named Prince. He has quickly become a highlight of my days. He is so playful, sweet, and has been learning commands so quickly! Little smarty. I want to take some photos tomorrow to share. And then a day later I started the first of three weeks of in-person school! It was so so fun to get to know all the girls this week, to give and receive facials and body treatments, and to just have somewhere to be everyday. I’ve been going to the gym early in the morning before class and it makes me feel so awake and productive. I think this next phase of my life is action-based. This year I implement all the wisdom I’ve gathered and I grow beyond measure. Just you wait and see :)

Ei, vaias. Espero que todos tenham tido uma semana maravilhosa. A primeira semana de 2021 foi difícil, com a insurreição na capital e suas consequências. A esperança e o alívio de fechar o capítulo em 2020, sendo seguido tão imediatamente por um evento tão desprezível, tirou o fôlego de minhas velas por um momento. A disparidade óbvia entre a forma como a polícia lidou com os manifestantes pacíficos do BLM vs. violentos supremacistas brancos, a resposta amorosa de Trump a eles ... a coisa toda é sangue fervendo, mas infelizmente não é totalmente surpreendente. Algumas coisas pioraram um pouco com algumas coisas pessoais na primeira semana de janeiro também, o que acabou aumentando a nuvem negra. Eu vi um clipe que oferece alguma clareza. É um pouco do discurso de aceitação de Andre de Shields para um prêmio Tony e suas três "regras fundamentais" são:
“Cerque-se de pessoas cujos olhos brilhem quando virem você chegando.”
“Lentamente é a maneira mais rápida de chegar onde você deseja.”
“O topo de uma montanha é a base da próxima, então continue escalando.”
Todos eles realmente falam comigo e espero que falem com você também. A vida é uma aventura. E só para solidificar essa afirmação, aquela semana sombria minha levou a uma das melhores semanas que tive em muito tempo. Minha colega de quarto Bianca veio do Texas e trouxe um adorável cachorrinho Toy Schnauzer chamado Prince. Ele rapidamente se tornou um dos destaques dos meus dias. Ele é tão brincalhão, doce e aprende comandos tão rapidamente! Pequeno sabichão. Quero tirar algumas fotos amanhã para compartilhar. E então, um dia depois, comecei a primeira das três semanas de aulas presenciais! Foi tão divertido conhecer todas as garotas esta semana, dar e receber tratamentos faciais e corporais e ter um lugar para estar todos os dias. Eu tenho ido para a academia de manhã cedo antes da aula e isso me faz sentir tão acordado e produtivo. Acho que esta próxima fase da minha vida é baseada na ação. Este ano, implemento toda a sabedoria que reuni e cresço além da medida. Espere e verá :)
