Bali Coastline
The long journey home begins … well actually, I am in the thick of it. I arrived in Manila yesterday morning to news that my next flight to Tokyo was cancelled. There was another flight in the afternoon but it still didn’t arrive before my connecting flight to NY was scheduled to leave. And on top of that, they told me it was oversold. With everything happening surrounding the Coronavirus, the idea of getting stranded so far from home was a little stressful, but it all worked out. I got a seat on the afternoon flight and spent the night very unglamorously on a bench at the airport. It is safe to say I am very under-slept. I am actually looking forward to my first class seat on this last flight back to The States, though I am not exactly looking forward to the state of affairs once I get there. It has been a little strange to be on vacation amid all the panic. My job involves travel though so I figured I’d be at risk either way. I’m not so much concerned about getting the virus as I am about transmitting it to someone with a more compromised immune system. Sending prayers and positivity to all of you!

A longa jornada para casa começa ... bem, na verdade, eu estou no meio disso. Cheguei a Manila ontem de manhã para saber que meu próximo voo para Tóquio foi cancelado. Houve outro voo à tarde, mas ainda não chegou antes do horário previsto para o meu voo de conexão para NY. E, além disso, eles me disseram que estava exagerado. Com tudo o que acontecia ao redor do Coronavírus, a ideia de ficar tão longe de casa era um pouco estressante, mas tudo deu certo. Sentei-me no voo da tarde e passei a noite sem glamour em um banco no aeroporto. É seguro dizer que estou muito mal dormida. Na verdade, estou ansioso pelo meu assento na primeira classe neste último vôo de volta aos Estados Unidos, embora não esteja exatamente ansioso pelo estado de coisas quando chegar lá. Foi um pouco estranho estar de férias em meio a todo o pânico. No entanto, meu trabalho envolve viagens, então imaginei que estaria em risco de qualquer maneira. Não estou tão preocupado com o vírus, mas em transmiti-lo a alguém com um sistema imunológico mais comprometido. Enviando orações e positividade para todos vocês!
