Beautiful Baby Bump

Melia is one of the many amazing women I met during my year abroad in Brazil ten years ago. Apparently we roomed together during a school trip to Minas Gerais, a fact she reminded me of this weekend. We had brunch together on Friday morning and made plans to take photos of her fairly new baby bump on Sunday. I took street style photos on my walk over to the apartment she was staying in so this was a very full day of shooting. I also took photos of Nicole, aka Boskasie, a mutual friend and South African pop-star who is besties with both Melia and my bestie from Rio, Olivia, who also lived in South Africa for a few years. A small world filled with inspirational women … the world I want to live in, truly. Melia is a badass lawyer who has lived on almost every continent. She is vibrant, as I’m sure you can tell, and I just kept thinking about how lucky or smart this baby was to choose her. I can’t wait to see her become a mamma!

Melia é uma das muitas mulheres incríveis que conheci durante meu ano no Brasil há dez anos. Aparentemente ficamos juntos durante uma viagem escolar a Minas Gerais, fato que ela me lembrou neste fim de semana. Fizemos um brunch juntos na sexta-feira de manhã e fizemos planos para tirar fotos de sua barriguinha relativamente nova no domingo. Tirei fotos de estilo de rua na minha caminhada até o apartamento em que ela estava hospedada, então este foi um dia muito cheio de filmagens. Também tirei fotos de Nicole, também conhecida como Boskasie, uma amiga em comum e pop-star sul-africana que é amiga de Melia e da minha melhor amiga do Rio, Olivia, que também morou na África do Sul por alguns anos. Um pequeno mundo cheio de mulheres inspiradoras... o mundo em que quero viver, de verdade. Melia é uma advogada foda que viveu em quase todos os continentes. Ela é vibrante, como tenho certeza que você pode dizer, e eu fiquei pensando em quão sortudo ou inteligente esse bebê foi ao escolhê-la. Mal posso esperar para vê-la se tornar mamãe!

I hope you all had a nice weekend. I just wrapped up mine with a steaming hot, candle-lit bath and I'm feeling particularly pampered. This last week my friend Hannah came to spend the day with me. We first met during my year in Rio de Janeiro and she currently lives in San Francisco. The last time I was up there to go to the Solange concert with my friend Christina we didn't get to see each other, so I'm so glad it worked out this time around! We walked seven miles along the beach together just catching up and soaking in the rare warm day. It's always so nice to catch up with old friends! Thanks for a lovely visit Miss Hannah!
