A lovely evening spent in the Parque del Laberinto de Horta <3
Hey hey! I hope you’re all doing well. I was having a bit of a frustrating weekend but I’m feeling so much better. My bank card was cloned here (which is super common unfortunately) and I’ve had some trouble getting in touch with my banks in the U.S. It’ll all work out, it’s just a frustrating process that I’ve been through twice already. Yesterday was nice and hot after a week full of rain and I made sure to spend the whole day at the beach. It was glorious. Then today my roommate Ana invited me to her Aunt’s apartment across the street because a lot of her family is visiting from Minas Gerais, a state just inland of Rio. They were so much fun and so welcoming. It was a really lovely day full of good food, good wine, and good conversation. I feel like I have days where my Portuguese feels jolty and fettered and others where it just flows. I have to remind myself that I haven’t spoken Portuguese almost at all in five years, but I want to gallop, not trot! Patience is not one of my many virtues ;).
Hey there beauties. You may have seen on my instagram that I got super sick this week. Name a symptom and I probably had it at some point in the last five days. I’m finally feeling like I’m getting better. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak! It has put a little damper on me finding an apartment but everything happens for a reason. I keep thinking back to how hard it was for me to find a place in Long Beach, but the apartment I eventually found could not have been better. Sometimes you just have to be patient and know that good things are coming your way. Timing is everything. On Sunday I escaped from bed for the afternoon to accompany Taina and Max to the Pride Parade along Copacabana Beach. Some pretty famous pop stars performed like Luisa Sonza and I definitely enjoyed myself. Taina is from a different part of Brazil but she’s hoping to move to Rio soon. I hope it works out because she was so much fun! Whenever I didn’t understand something she would patiently explain. I so appreciate that! Well, I’m going to go get some lunch and then come back and rest more. I will be on antibiotics until Saturday so I just want to take it easy and make sure I really kick this sickness!
I hope you are all happy and healthy <3
Oi belezas.
Good morning babes! I left my purse at Jenelle’s place yesterday so I just biked over to get it and now I’m back at Naked Lounge waiting for my friend Caira. We’re having a little tea date in the park! Yesterday’s errands didn’t go quite as planned but I still got a lot done. I got a few things that I needed from Sephora, got some underwear from Victoria’s Secret, and then hit up the amazing summer sale at Forever 21. I definitely don’t need more clothes to bring but it’s perfect timing to shop for Rio because all the summer clothes are on sale this time of year! I got a red dress with little tie details on the arms and a white eyelet lace top. The dress was only $2 and it’s my favorite color! I couldn’t resist!! The last time I went to Brazil I packed so badly. I brought a bunch of things that I never ended up wearing … like bodycon dresses and six-inch heels haha. I never liked wearing those things but for some reason I thought I would there?? Rio is all cobblestone - so not so good for heels. Plus, wearing heels cuts down on one’s ability to partake in spontaneous adventures, and who wants that?! I feel like I used to buy clothes for an imaginary me and I’ve thankfully outgrown that. I’ve figured out what I like and what I feel best in and now I’m just coasting. The only problem is that this time I want to bring all these things I wish I’d brought last time and I don’t know if I’ll have room or how many suitcases to bring. One big one and two carry ons? One big, one medium, and two carry ons?? Is that excessive? Eek!
cheers to learning and living better and better
Bom dia babes! Eek!
aplausos para aprender e viver melhor e melhor

I realize that I never told you guys that I got a new computer! My old one would crash every time I opened up Lightroom or Photoshop so I was doing all my editing on my phone which decreases the quality. I am having such a good time experimenting with editing on my gorgeous little space grey MacBook Pro! This will mean more blogging and higher quality images! Because I had to transfer all the images I edited back onto my computer to make a blogpost, it was harder and therefore didn’t happen often. Now I can just transfer whatever I want to post on instagram onto my phone, one at a time. So much nicer! Last night my little gang of friends here in Chico got together for dinner at my friend Jenelle’s new place. She has such a knack for decorating, and the house itself is so cute, so it’s just all-around gorgeous! I’m happy I gave myself two weeks in Chico so I can see everyone more than once at a relaxed pace. It is a little strange not to be working, but I am going to enjoy it!
Estou a divertir-me a experimentar a edição no meu fantástico MacBook Pro cinzento cinzento!

Hey hey! I hope you're doing well! I've a had a really nice couple days off. It started off with a movie/wine night in the bathtub. This has become one of my (not so guilty) pleasures. It's been quite chilly considering summer is around the corner and sometimes I just crave to be warmed to the bones, which a bath provides! The wine and movie just make it that much nicer. I tend to overheat quickly too so the movie or show distracts me and allows me to stay in a bit longer. You should try it ;). I've been to the gym both days I had off too. I was so sore this morning from yesterday but I still went to a Butt/Belly/Thighs workout class this morning. I don't think it would have been very hard if I hadn't been SO sore. It felt good to move all that lactic acid through my system though and I rolled out my muscles a bit on a foam roller after class. Afterwards I went to get a smoothie. Did you guys know that Jamba Juice has a 'secret' menu? I thought I'd try one that was recommended called the "Red Gummy." It was a little too sweet for me but it did taste so much like a gummy bear! I'll probably stick with my favorite Peanut Butter Banana one ;).
Bom dia babes! Today is my Monday so to speak but I have begun working more at night rather than in the morning so I've had a very leisurely morning. I went to the gym yesterday and am so sore today. I had trouble crouching down to get something from a bottom drawer in my dresser this morning haha. I love being sore though. It lets me know that I actually worked yesterday! With a work schedule that fluctuates, so does the rest of my schedule ... but so far it's working well for me. It's nice to sometimes have mornings off, and sometimes be done by noon. It's a nice balance. Plus, working so close to where I live means that no time is wasted on commuting so I still feel like have a lot of free time. Last year I felt like my life revolved around working ... making sure I got enough sleep for work, that my car had gas in it, and I didn't have a lot of time to grocery shop and focus on what I was feeding myself. I am so grateful for where I'm at.
Feliz Friday y'all! I don't have much planned for the rest of the day except some house projects. I'm currently at a coffee shop on 2nd street and I'm planning on picking up a painting that needed the glass fixed in the frame on my way home. A couple months back I did a post about spray-painting the frames of four pieces of artwork that I bought at the flea market. They are a set and I wanted to hang them in a certain formation together but the beams in the wall were going to make that tricky. The guy at the hardware store convinced me to buy this heavy-duty, double-sided adhesive that could hold up to 300 lbs (supposedly) to the wall. Long story short, one of them fell off of the wall (in the middle of the night I might add) and shattered. I took the rest down fearing the same fate and finally got around to getting it fixed. Now I can hang them all the old-fashioned way haha.
Sometimes simple is better. Lesson learned.

Hello! Happy Friday! I just got back home from the chiropractor. Anyone who knows me knows how much I crave my back cracked so the chiropractor is more of a treat than a chore. I sprained my neck a few days ago and it was still not feeling healed so I had an expert take a look. My whole neck has felt warm since I left the appointment ... maybe it got the blood flowing again! Anyways, tomorrow is the annual Women's March in DTLA and I am going with my friends Meg and Joeye. I didn't go last year and was a bit embarrassed about it so I requested the day off this year and made a plan to get myself there! With all the sexual harassment and assault cases that have been brought to light this past year, I feel that it's super important to show face and support other women! I'm bringing my old camera with me and am hoping for some great, inspiring photos to share here. Stay tuned.

I am trying so hard to blog more! I have all these ideas for posts floating around my head but I realize I should just get in the habit of posting, whether it's well-thought out or not. My goal really is to post once a day - so you can see I'm slacking. I don't want to put too much pressure on written content though. My focus is on the photos. I've been strangely tired this week however, which has stood in my way a bit. Other than going on a long bike ride along the coast, going out to dinner and drinks with some coworkers, and running some errands, I've primarily spent the week at home. Last night I fell asleep at 8 pm and I still woke up groggy. I've been cooking for myself a lot so I know that I'm not lacking nutrients. I'll just listen to my body I suppose. It sort of gives me no choice ;). Tonight my friend Victoria is coming over to check out my new place and eat dinner. I'm cooking a polenta and mushroom dish and have a fresh bottle of wine ready and waiting! I really love to cook, but I especially love cooking for others.
