New Moon

I haven’t taken proper outfit photos in a long time. It felt so fun to play dress up and snap these. I have been so immersed in my YouTube world, photo has taken a backseat. Even my Street Style Strolls have been few and far between. I had physical therapy today, my second session at a new place. I really like my PT girl and she gave me a show recommendation today about a bunch of gay pirates??! I am gearing up for grad school which will begin in just over a month. I’ve been trying to coordinate a time to meet with my advisor in-person to sort through any of my enrollment and financial aid questions. I’m hoping I can meet with her today. The kids I babysit for are in the process of applying to private schools for next year so this week has been a bit different than most. Also, Liv and I have been receiving a lot of mystery packages this week and then they reappear wrapped under the ‘tree.’ Liv wrapped my giant monstera plant in Christmas lights yesterday. I thought I bought some silver wrapping paper but this morning I discovered it is clear while trying to wrap the most recent package arrival. I’ve got to remember to grab a new roll on my way home.

Faz muito tempo que não tiro fotos de roupas adequadas. Foi tão divertido brincar de vestir e tirar isso. Estive tão imerso no meu mundo do YouTube que as fotos ficaram em segundo plano. Até meus passeios de estilo de rua têm sido poucos e raros. Fiz fisioterapia hoje, minha segunda sessão em um local novo. Eu gosto muito da minha PT e ela me deu uma recomendação de programa hoje sobre um bando de piratas gays??! Estou me preparando para a pós-graduação, que começará em pouco mais de um mês. Tenho tentado marcar um horário para me encontrar pessoalmente com meu orientador para resolver qualquer uma das minhas dúvidas sobre inscrição e ajuda financeira. Espero poder me encontrar com ela hoje. As crianças de quem sou babá estão em processo de inscrição em escolas particulares para o próximo ano, então esta semana foi um pouco diferente da maioria. Além disso, Liv e eu temos recebido muitos pacotes misteriosos esta semana e então eles reaparecem embrulhados debaixo da ‘árvore’. Liv embrulhou minha planta monstera gigante com luzes de Natal ontem. Pensei ter comprado papel de embrulho prateado, mas esta manhã descobri que está claro ao tentar embrulhar o pacote mais recente que chegou. Preciso me lembrar de pegar um pãozinho novo no caminho para casa.

Hi loves! I have managed to get a seat under the “living” wall at my favorite coffee shop. As the girl who gave me the table said, “It’s like the Hunger Games trying to get a seat in here.” It’s so competitive. I should have worn comfier shoes for the waiting game. But now it’s time to study. I am trying to do at least one run-through of the state board each day this week, so it becomes second nature. I hope you’re having a wonderful start to the week!

Oi amores! Consegui um assento sob a parede “viva” da minha cafeteria favorita. Como a garota que me deu a mesa disse: "É como os Jogos Vorazes tentando conseguir um lugar aqui." É tão competitivo. Eu deveria ter usado sapatos confortáveis para o jogo de espera. Mas agora é hora de estudar. Estou tentando fazer pelo menos uma revisão do conselho estadual a cada dia desta semana, então isso se torna uma segunda natureza. Espero que você esteja tendo um ótimo começo de semana!

Bom Dia Sexta-Feira

Good morning! I just finished my third and final test for the week! We are deep into an Anatomy unit and it is quite intimidating. Any initial thoughts about it being a simple brush-up on high school science classes dissipated at the start of the week. We are diving into so much new material, with an emphasis of course on the parts of the body we will be working with like the head, chest and arms. I managed to get 100% on this skeletal portion of the test which makes me breathe a bit easier for the upcoming muscular test on Monday. This week has been tiring. I haven’t done much outside of having class, going to the gym, cooking myself decent meals, basic hygiene, and homework. I did however go to a small protest in Brooklyn on Wednesday in response to ICE impersonating NYPD in order to illegally detain people. I can’t wait for this election to be over. Though I don’t have any grandiose hopes for immediate change, I do have hope. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. Despite being a little tired, I am very grateful to be in New York City, taking classes about something I find so interesting, able to feed myself good food and exercise. Being a bit busy is where I thrive but I’m excited for the weekend. Happy Friday!

Bom Dia! Acabei de terminar meu terceiro e último teste da semana! Estamos profundamente envolvidos com uma unidade de anatomia e isso é bastante intimidante. Quaisquer pensamentos iniciais sobre isso ser um retoque nas aulas de ciências do colégio se dissiparam no início da semana. Estamos mergulhando em muito material novo, com ênfase nas partes do corpo com as quais trabalharemos, como cabeça, tórax e braços. Consegui 100% neste teste de esqueleto, o que me deixa respirar um pouco mais fácil para o próximo teste muscular de segunda-feira. Esta semana foi cansativa. Eu não fiz muito fora das aulas, ir para a academia, cozinhar, higiene básica e dever de casa. No entanto, fui a um pequeno protesto no Brooklyn na quarta-feira em resposta ao ICE se passar por NYPD a fim de deter pessoas ilegalmente. Eu não posso esperar para esta eleição acabar. Embora eu não tenha grandes esperanças de mudança imediata, tenho esperança. Espero que todos tenham tido uma semana maravilhosa. Apesar de estar um pouco cansada, sou muito grata por estar na cidade de Nova York, tendo aulas sobre algo que acho tão interessante, poder me alimentar de boa comida e fazer exercícios. Estar um pouco ocupado é onde eu prospero, mas estou animado para o fim de semana. Feliz sexta-feira!

Happy Saturday! Today was beautiful and warm so I made plans with my friend Ashley to meet up in Central Park, but things didn’t go according to plan. I built my vanity last week - complete except for the attached mirror that arrived shattered. Wayfair said they would send me a replacement and I didn’t think to specify the change of address … so it arrived at my old address in NJ this morning. I ended up going to get it this afternoon and hauling it back on the train. Luckily Ashley is free tomorrow so we’re hanging out then. I am also having coffee with an old high school friend tomorrow. We’ve been trying to meet up for so long and our schedules finally aligned! I have a feeling tomorrow will more than make up for todays derailing. Have a lovely night!

Feliz sábado! Hoje foi lindo e caloroso, então fiz planos com minha amiga Ashley para me encontrar no Central Park, mas as coisas não saíram como planejado. Construí minha penteadeira na semana passada - completa, exceto pelo espelho anexado que chegou quebrado. Wayfair disse que me enviariam um substituto e não pensei em especificar a mudança de endereço ... então, chegou ao meu antigo endereço em NJ esta manhã. Acabei indo buscá-lo esta tarde e puxá-lo de volta ao trem. Felizmente, Ashley está livre amanhã, então vamos sair juntos. Também vou tomar um café com um velho amigo do colégio amanhã. Estamos tentando nos encontrar há tanto tempo e nossos horários finalmente se alinham! Tenho a sensação de que amanhã mais do que compensará o descarrilamento de hoje. Tenha uma boa noite!

Mission to the desert! I really love how these photos came out. My cousin Cheyanna took all of them. She has such a good eye! In actuality Joshua Tree was so windy. My jumpsuit matched the rocks and all but really we were just trying to find a large hill that would block some of the wind! I start to feel like I'm going crazy when I'm having to squint and my hair is being blown everywhere and car doors won't stay open and ... all worth the photos later haha. I went to they gym today after work at 6:30, forgetting that it closes at 7, so I didn't really get my yayas out. I have to wake up early for a long shift tomorrow so I'm off to bed! Hey hey! I hope you're doing well! I've a had a really nice couple days off. It started off with a movie/wine night in the bathtub. This has become one of my (not so guilty) pleasures. It's been quite chilly considering summer is around the corner and sometimes I just crave to be warmed to the bones, which a bath provides! The wine and movie just make it that much nicer. I tend to overheat quickly too so the movie or show distracts me and allows me to stay in a bit longer. You should try it ;). I've been to the gym both days I had off too. I was so sore this morning from yesterday but I still went to a Butt/Belly/Thighs workout class this morning. I don't think it would have been very hard if I hadn't been SO sore. It felt good to move all that lactic acid through my system though and I rolled out my muscles a bit on a foam roller after class. Afterwards I went to get a smoothie. Did you guys know that Jamba Juice has a 'secret' menu? I thought I'd try one that was recommended called the "Red Gummy." It was a little too sweet for me but it did taste so much like a gummy bear! I'll probably stick with my favorite Peanut Butter Banana one ;).

Bom dia babes! Today is my Monday so to speak but I have begun working more at night rather than in the morning so I've had a very leisurely morning. I went to the gym yesterday and am so sore today. I had trouble crouching down to get something from a bottom drawer in my dresser this morning haha. I love being sore though. It lets me know that I actually worked yesterday! With a work schedule that fluctuates, so does the rest of my schedule ... but so far it's working well for me. It's nice to sometimes have mornings off, and sometimes be done by noon. It's a nice balance. Plus, working so close to where I live means that no time is wasted on commuting so I still feel like have a lot of free time. Last year I felt like my life revolved around working ... making sure I got enough sleep for work, that my car had gas in it, and I didn't have a lot of time to grocery shop and focus on what I was feeding myself. I am so grateful for where I'm at.

Feliz Friday y'all! I don't have much planned for the rest of the day except some house projects. I'm currently at a coffee shop on 2nd street and I'm planning on picking up a painting that needed the glass fixed in the frame on my way home. A couple months back I did a post about spray-painting the frames of four pieces of artwork that I bought at the flea market. They are a set and I wanted to hang them in a certain formation together but the beams in the wall were going to make that tricky. The guy at the hardware store convinced me to buy this heavy-duty, double-sided adhesive that could hold up to 300 lbs (supposedly) to the wall. Long story short, one of them fell off of the wall (in the middle of the night I might add) and shattered. I took the rest down fearing the same fate and finally got around to getting it fixed. Now I can hang them all the old-fashioned way haha. 

Sometimes simple is better. Lesson learned.

The new Instagram feature where you can save photos has quickly turned into a mood board. Scrolling through, I started to realize how cohesive my photos and interests are and thought they would make a nice collage to share. I hope these images inspire you as they've inspired me! There is a lot about social media that doesn't sit right with me but the ability to share and have access to inspirational art is undeniable.

Happy belated V-day you filthy animals! I know that a lot of people find this day cheesy af ... I'm one of them ... but at the same time, who cares?! Let's just all be cheese-balls and be down for a day that promotes showing appreciation for the ones you love! You don't have to do it with even one gift, just spend that time :). I had a lovely little evening in Hyland Park (first time there) going to an M. Ward show that gave me tingles at one point. It's fun to get a little dressed up and go be moved by some music. 

I hope you had a wonderful day then and are having a wonderful day now.

Yesterday, after work, my mom and I took a stroll down 4th Street to do some last-minute Christmas shopping. We stopped at Holé Molé on the way home for some Rosaritos and potato tacos. One of my coworkers has been asking me every day if I'd tried it yet so I finally got to say yes today! When we got back we ate dinner and watched the first half of Santa Claus. Today I worked until about 2:30. It was a slow day so we all basically just hung out. My mom just went on a walk so I can wrap her presents while she's gone so I'd better get on that! I hope you're all having a lovely Christmas Eve.

This has been a lovely week! Before heading back to Las Vegas for Christmas, my friend Brittany threw an epic dinner party that turned into an all night dance-o-thon when we took it to Pine Street. My next morning at work wasn't pretty, but it was worth it ;). I had dinner with my friend Elly at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. It was both of our first times there and I am definitely a fan. We serve a gourmet version of the Southern classic at work but I've been antsy to try the original. It was nice to catch up and show her my place as well. My mom came into town a couple days ago and will be staying with me 'til Christmas, then we have a room booked for three nights at a fancy hotel across from the beach and I have all three days off to enjoy the stay-cation! Working for Marriott has some definite perks! I developed a bit of a cold today so I'm already daydreaming about the hot tub. 

Cheers to a lovely end to 2017, and hope on the horizon that 2018 will be the best one yet!

I am trying so hard to blog more! I have all these ideas for posts floating around my head but I realize I should just get in the habit of posting, whether it's well-thought out or not. My goal really is to post once a day - so you can see I'm slacking. I don't want to put too much pressure on written content though. My focus is on the photos. I've been strangely tired this week however, which has stood in my way a bit. Other than going on a long bike ride along the coast, going out to dinner and drinks with some coworkers, and running some errands, I've primarily spent the week at home. Last night I fell asleep at 8 pm and I still woke up groggy. I've been cooking for myself a lot so I know that I'm not lacking nutrients. I'll just listen to my body I suppose. It sort of gives me no choice ;). Tonight my friend Victoria is coming over to check out my new place and eat dinner. I'm cooking a polenta and mushroom dish and have a fresh bottle of wine ready and waiting! I really love to cook, but I especially love cooking for others.

Whatttttup! I had a sweet little lunch date with my friend Alli today in Manhattan Beach. There are so many pricey little spots but then we stumbled on our kind of spot: cheap and tasty Mexican food! It was so nice to explore and window shop ... and I may have made a swimsuit purchase. Summer is almost here and you know I'll be ready ;).

This weekend is going to feel extremely long because I won't be back in the office until Wednesday. I'm working from home for the Lulus Cyber Monday sale. How luxurious, right?! Happy Friday!

Today was actually kind of blustery, but still pretty warm in true LA fashion. At work we looked at a potential new office space. It's right across the street from the building we're in now, but it's on the top floor and has a roof deck and a view of Downtown ... so it's way better! We all got pretty excited about it, but nothing is locked down. I went to a hip-hop class this evening and now it's time for sleepzzzzzz.
